The weeks after birth can be beautiful, exhausting, emotional, and overwhelming—all at the same time. As a Houston postpartum doula, I provide in-home support for growing families throughout Houston, Katy, Cypress, Tomball, Spring, Sugar Land, Pearland, Fulshear, and surrounding communities.
Postpartum support may include breastfeeding and pumping guidance, newborn care education, emotional support, postpartum planning, light household assistance, meal preparation, baby-wearing guidance, and helping parents get the rest they need to recover and thrive.

While she wasn’t at the hospital with me (I wish I had booked that service!), Alysa was there our first night home from the hospital. After having an unexpectedly challenging birth experience, I immediately burst into tears upon seeing her. This was our first time meeting in person, but it didn’t matter. I was so thankful to have her support and empathy that I so badly needed. This continued throughout our time together.
During the six weeks Alysa supported us, I welcomed (and requested) that she make suggestions based on her experience, and I appreciated that she left all ultimate decisions up to me. She proved to be incredibly trustworthy and displayed true professionalism. I felt 100% comfortable turning the monitor off so that I could truly rest (not something I was able to do with my first). Since she was with us ~six nights a week for six weeks, she was in our home regularly during a major adjustment period for our 2-year-old (who was previously an only child). Not only did my husband and I look forward to her coming (which was ALWAYS early or on time), we genuinely feel that Alysa’s presence helped with the transition so that we could dedicate 1:1 time to our daughter. Not to mention that my daughter LOVED her and continues to ask about her to this day!

Even though everything was pretty much virtual when it came time to give birth it was like she was in the room with us! I loved how she made sure to include my husband and when we found out due to COVID that she couldn’t be in the room she trained my husband very well on what to do during labor. She is very knowledgeable on all aspects of pregnancy and birth. What really impressed us is that she understood and acknowledged the disparities that existed with me being an African American woman and even gave me tips on how to stand up for myself while in the hospital to be sure that I receive the greatest care available!
