Kind Words

Alysa is amazing! As I first time mom, I had so many questions during my preganancy and was not getting great communication from my doctor. Around week 30 of my pregnancy, the COVID 19 outbreak happened which had us even more worried and confused. The classes we'd signed up for at the hospital were cancelled, interaction with my doctor became even more limited, and my husband and I were feeling lost and overwhelmed as to what resources to trust in a sea of online information. I really just wanted another knowledgeable woman to talk to who could be available via phone, text and email to help with questions and concerns and to calm my nerves. But Alysa turned out to be way more than just that. Before COVID 19, she came to our house and did a personalized 90 min introduction session with me and my partner, and after everyone was advised to quarantine, she continued to meet with us over Zoom. She created extensive trainings on the topics that interested us such as labor and delivery, partner support, medicated vs unmedicated births etc. Her presentations were extremely thorough with visuals and an accompanying resource bank with handouts we could print and keep around the house. Most of all, she was just a kind, patient, thoughtful source of support for us both through the final weeks of my preganancy. When all hell broke lose and I was diagnosed with rapid onset preeclampsia and was forced to deliver my baby a month early via emergency c section, unfortunately, due to COVID, Alysa was not allowed in the hospital to attend the birth (I was restriced to one visitor only which was my husband). However, she was still there for us via phone, text, Facetime, etc through the whole ordeal and was the FIRST person to follow up with me and come by my house with the most thoughtful postpartum care package to check on me and help me with breastfeeding. Bottom line, you will not find a more caring support person and I can't recommend her enough!
